The short version
How this one works
A bulky article is anything over about 300 pounds or anything that needs rigging rather than lifting. It gets its own dolly, its own line on the inventory and a second crew lead. We do not improvise with a piano on a staircase.

Step by step
What happens, in order
- 01
Site visit
For anything over 500 lb we look at the stairwell, the landing turn and the doorway in person before quoting.
- 02
Rig and protect
Legs and pedal lyre come off a grand, the case is padded and strapped to a skid board.
- 03
The lift
Two leads, a planned route, and a stop point identified in advance on every flight.
- 04
Set and settle
Reassembled in place. Leave a piano two weeks before tuning so the soundboard adjusts to the new humidity.

Almost certainly. Not because of the move itself but because humidity and temperature change. Wait two weeks for the instrument to settle, then tune.
Up to about 800 lb with a stair-climbing dolly and two leads, depending on the stairwell and the landing. Above that we bring in a rigging contractor.
Yes, and it needs its own site visit. Draining, disconnecting the electrical supply and the crane, if the garden needs one, are all quoted separately.
The slate comes off in sections and is crated. Reassembly and re-levelling is done by a billiards technician, not by us, and we can arrange it.
